Cape Coral was founded in 1957 as a planned community and now has 180,000; it has more miles (400+) of canals than any other city in the world

Cape Coral averages 355 days of sunshine a year; we visited on 7 of the 10 other days

Tropical Storn Alberto managed to bring rain every day of our visit; fortunately, it also brought a nice breeze and cooler temperatures

We went to Matlacha to get shrimp for Mike's dinner recipe; Cape Coral is within 150 miles of 70% of Florida's population

Cormorants were plentiful as were ibis, egrets and ducks; I even briefly saw a river otter in the canal
